Dean/Director Procedures

  1. The new Competency Based Progression Policy vests the decision of progression with the Dean/Director. Your authorisation of progression warrants that:

    • the competencies are required in the position
    • the evidence is sufficient and relevant
    • the expense line in forward year's budget be adjusted.

For further information, read the Policy at Competency Based Progression Policy.

  2. On receipt of the application you must make a decision on the validity of the evidence supplied and check that the Competency Standards chosen by the supervisor are an accurate reflection of the position.

In some positions there will be a convergence of streams and it may have been necessary to identify and select competencies from outside the recognised professional area of the position.

  3. If you approve the application sign the "Certification by Dean/Director" declaration and complete the "Assessment of Competency Based Progression" Section within seven (7) days of receipt of the application. Forward the application to Personnel & Financial Services, Attention: Operations, for payment. The form will be kept on the employee's Personnel file.

  4. If you do not approve the application, complete the "Assessment of Competency Based Progression" section stating reasons for non-approval. Return the form to the supervisor within seven (7) days of receipt of the application. The supervisor will return the application to the employee.
