Fieldwork

The University has developed fieldwork documents to assist in minimising the risks associated with the hazards involved in undertaking fieldwork. Supervisors, staff and students are required to meet obligations for occupational health and safety during fieldwork planning and participation.

When to complete Fieldwork documents?

Prior to taking students on a trip outside the University, fieldwork guidelines and documents are to be read, completed and filed where appropriate. Collecting soil samples or samples from rock platforms, conducting plant or animal surveys and diving trips are all examples of fieldwork. Fieldwork trips include day trips and overnight excursions.

The following documentation is to be completed prior to any fieldwork being carried out:

Download the Fieldwork Guidelines

Download the Fieldwork Risk Assessment Form [doc] [pdf]

Download the Fieldwork Participant Acknowledgement [doc] [pdf]
