WHS Considerations in Design and Research

When designing any new piece of equipment or process, it is important to take into account any hazards which may be created. The application of design includes the creation of new equipment or processes including for research.

The University has developed the WHS Design Guidelines which incorporate a risk management approach when designing and creating new equipment or processes.

Design of Buildings and Structures

The University of Wollongong is committed to ensuring that a systematic process that details the requirements for Design Consultants to manage risk during the design of a building or structure, has been defined and is available.

It is expected that any outside organisation contracted by the University of Wollongong to assist with the design a building or structure, such as a design consultant, will comply with the requirements set out in this guideline.

The University Project Manager coordinating the overall construction project is responsible for ensuring any outside organisations are aware and understand the expectations set out in this guideline.
