What are dangerous goods?
Dangerous goods are substances or articles classified by the United Nations based upon the characteristics they display. Generally speaking, this means that "chemicals and explosives" are grouped and labelled based upon the physical hazards they pose.
There are nine classes of dangerous goods:
Class 1 Explosives Class 2 Gases (Flammable, Compressed/Non-Toxic, Poisonous) Class 3 Flammable Liquids Class 4 Flammable Solids Class 5 Oxidisers & Organic Peroxides Class 6 Toxic Substances Class 7 Radioactive Substances Class 8 Corrosive Substances Class 9 Miscellaneous Dangerous Goods
Are there any special requirements for storing dangerous goods?

Do I need a licence to store dangerous goods?
Changes to Dangerous Goods legislation replace the need for licensing. Workcover must be notified of dangerous goods stored and handled in quantities exceeding the manifest quantities set by Workcover.
