Workplace Advisory Committees

What is this about?The communication of OHS information to UOW staff, students or visitors.
Who has to do it?Anyone who is a representative on a UOW Workplace Advisory Committee.
Why am I required to do this?When agenda items or information in Committee meeting minutes are of concern to UOW staff, students or visitors.
When do I have to do this?Prior to and following committee meetings.
What do I do?1. Consult on OHS issues at Workplace Advisory Committee meetings,
2. Consult on OHS issues to UOW staff, students and visitors.
3. Take part in Workplace Advisory Committee inspection.

Workplace Advisory Committees (WAC) are designed as a local consultation vehicle for OHS issues to be resolved. WACs are formulated for all Faculties and business units to ensure hazards and their associated risks are controlled in a consultative manner.

Workplace Advisory Committee Inspections

One of the key functions of Workplace Advisory Committee's is to perform scheduled inspections of work areas.

School Safety Committee

School Safety Committees (SSC) operate in conjunction with Workplace Advisory Committees and represent areas that perform high risk activities. School Safety Committees play an essential role in controlling risk within their unit by implementing local OHS initiatives.
