To All Staff

UOW has led a consortium of four NSW universities to develop an equal opportunity online workshop for both academic and general staff in the higher education sector. The program is called "EOOnline: Fair Play on Campus". The purpose of the program is to provide staff with a better understanding of equal opportunity and discrimination issues and their application on campus.

Given that one of the core values and guiding principles of the University of Wollongong is its commitment to the principles of equal opportunity, all staff are strongly encouraged to explore equal opportunity issues through EOOnline. It takes approximately 2-3 hours to complete the 2 modules of EOOnline. All staff are welcome to complete both modules, but should aim at least completing module 1.

I strongly encourage you to invest this relatively short time in developing your understanding of these important equity principles and their application within the employment and education context.

Some staff are involved in activities which make it particularly important for them to complete both modules of EOOnline. I would especially recommend staff in the following categories undertake EOOnline as set out below.

Managers and Supervisors
End of January 2003

Personnel Staff
End of January 2003

Members of Recruitment or Promotion Committees
(Trained for these committees over 3 years ago)
Prior to next committee participation

New staff will be asked to complete the program within 6 months of their commencement.

There is a feedback page at the end of each module. You should provide your email details on this page on the completion of each module and submit. This information will be logged with the EED Unit to confirm you have completed that module.

The program can be accessed from your desk in one or more sessions. Robyn Weekes, Director of the EED Unit, will provide further information and demonstrate EOOnline to staff during the next few months. If you would like a preview, log on to the UOW home page and insert in the location space

The program is password protected and you will need to access the following information.

password: (provided)

I commend EOOnline to you.
