The following changes have been made for the
July 2002 release of SMP_Central:
Advanced Search tab
The Advanced Search tab now allows searches based on initials or first and last name separated by a space. Wild cards can also be used (and need to be used if searching for an initial). e.g. Smith or J* Smith or John Smith. If the search returns less than 100 records - they will be automatically loaded without having to click OK to a pop up message displaying the number of records returned.
The Advanced Search Tab icon names have changed from Std Search to Student Search and Sbj Search to Subject Search
Direct Logon to Advanced Search
When you log onto SMP Central you can now login to the entire system or just go to the Advanced Search Tab. If you select to login to the Advanced Search Tab, no other tabs will be loaded. You do this on the SMP Central home page by entering your username, password, and selecting "Advanced Search" from the drop down menu. Then click Login.
Online Special Consideration application and processing facility
This has been modified so that publishing to UNIT level is NOT impacted by unprocessed Special Consideration applications in a class. Where the student indicates that documentation will be submitted, the SC* flag in SMP Central will only appear once the documentation has been verified by ARD.
When entering special considerations, the user will be informed if they try and submit a reply which is longer than the system can handle (previously this caused an error message to appear).
Send a message to a class or a set of students from an Advanced Search (SOLSMail)
This is a facility which replaces the Group Email facility for sending messages to cohorts of students. It has been developed following feedback by current users of the group email function.

Database structural change
The class rolls are now produced directly from the enrolment tables - there are no more time delays between when a student enrols, and when they appear in SMP Central (this has traditionally been an overnight load). As soon as the student enrols or withdraws, it will be reflected in SMP Central.
Define Tasks Weightings
Decimal places can now be entered in the "Weightings" field.
Help Screens
The help screens have been updated to provide more relevant information on SMP Central functionality.
Mac Users
The Toolbar icons have been adjusted so that they show fully on the Mac
Mac users can now use SMP Central using Internet Explorer (previously an encryption security error appeared).
Please Note: The SMP development team tests SMP Central on numerous PC and Mac platforms using various versions of browsers prior to each version release. It is very difficult to test and support all possible combinations - so please inform the smp support group ( smp@uow.edu.au ) if you experience problems with a specific combination.
