SMP_Central Version 2.3 (Release May 2001)
The first thing you will notice is that you will be prompted to accept a new SECURITY CERTIFICATE. Please ensure that you ACCEPT THE CERTIFICATE "FOREVER" (this is an option on one of the windows that appears), and then the logon screen will appear as normal - this will prevent the security certificate prompt from popping up every time you start SMP Central.
If you use bookmarks to start SMP Central - please ensure that you bookmark this web address to ensure you go to the correct URL: http://staff.uow.edu.au/cols/smpcentral/
The smp support group (smp@uow.edu.au) recieve many suggestions and requests for SMP functionality from users and some of these have been addressed in this release (see function list below).
A major part of this release is the implementation of a new PERMISSIONS DATABASE structure. This is to allow the SMP Support group to effeciently maintain the class permissions in SMP Central. Every attempt has been made to move existing permissions for 2001 classes across to the new permissions structure - but if you cannot access a class that you should be able to access, please email the Support Group smp@uow.edu.au giving your email username and the access you require, so that it can be setup for you.
SMP training sessions will be held in the near future - you will recieve emails about these shortly.
The following changes have been made for the May 2001 release of SMP_Central:
- Increased timeout value from 10 minutes to 30 minutes
- Ability to 'Copy and Paste' TASK setup information from one class to another in the DEFINE TASKS tab
- Change to the "Comments" title in the TASK MARKS tab to "Comments to Students"
- Update to only display classes with an "active" status (based on the Subject Database class status)
- Update to the sorting alogorithms to correctly sort on full first names (not just initials)
- Update to TASK MARKs tab layout - including new icons and ability to read the "comments to students" on the summary screen.
- New dynamic permissions structure - making it more effecient for the SMP Support Group to manage the class permission requests
