About the Awards

The Vice-Chancellor's Awards recognize the outstanding contributions staff make to the University of Wollongong. Awards are presented to recipients in a formal ceremony on 27 June 2008.

 Vice-Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Service for General Staff

The Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Service is presented each year to members of general staff who have achieved an exceptional success, given outstanding service and/or shown recognised initiative in their work.

Nominations close 4 April 2008.

 Marie Lewis Award

The Marie Lewis Award is in honour of the late Marie Lewis, and recognises the achievement of a member of the general staff who is completing a degree. Selection is based on academic performance and service to the University.

 25 Years Service Awards

Awards are presented each year to members of academic and general staff who have served the University for 25 years.

Nominations are intiated from Personnel and recipients will be notified early in 2008.

 Vice-Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning

The Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning (OCTAL) is awarded each year to an academic staff member who has made a major contribution to teaching and learning excellence within the University of Wollongong.

 Faculty Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning

Faculty recipients for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning are those academic staff who are recognised for their contribution to teaching and learning within each Faculty.

This group of awards (Faculty, General and Sessional) recognise staff who are doing excellent work to enhance the University's high standards of teaching and learning.

Nominations for this round have closed and applicant portfolios are due 4th February 2008.

 Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Excellence in Research

This group of awards recognises the contributions that academic staff and their partners are making towards research excellence and include awards for:

  • Research Excellence for Senior Researchers
  • Research Excellence for Emerging Researchers
  • Outstanding Achievement in Research Partnership and;
  • Excellence in Research Supervision.

Nominations close 4 April 2008.

 Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Community Engagement

The Vice-Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Community Engagement will be awarded annually to an academic or general University of Wollongong staff member or team of staff (including staff employed by the University's controlled entities) in recognition of significant community engagement activities.

Nominations close 11 April 2008.

 Vice-Chancellor's Special Award for Outstanding and Exceptional Achievement

Special Awards are presented to an individual, Department or Unit of the University, selected by the Vice Chancellor, in recognition of outstanding and exceptional achievement.

These awards are initiated at the discretion of the Vice-Chancellor.
